Sovič Bike Trail

Sovič is considered a popular city hill, on the top of which you can find ruins of the Postojna Castle (Adelsberg). The circular cycling route takes you from Čukovca behind Sovič across the varied Poljane to Veliki Otok. In the first part, the route leads along a paved macadam path and winds between trees and dense bushes. After two kilometres you will reach a lookout point above the village of Veliki Otok, right next to the church of St. Catherine, from where you have a view of the vast Pivka basin, which is surrounded by karst plateaus. Then turn down the slope to Veliki Otok and follow the main road towards Postojna Cave. You cross the bridge over the river Pivka and continue past the lime tree avenue to the first turn to the left, which takes you to the starting point on Čukovca. In the immediate vicinity of the starting point, at the foot of the Sovič hill, there is also the Pumptrack Postojna, where you can test your skills in a dynamic ride across the bumps.
