Church of st. Stephen
The
imposing late-Baroque church
with classicist and rococo details
and impressive frescoes was built
in 1777. It is dedicated to St. Stephen,
the patron saint of horses,
which suggests the economic importance
of these draught animals
in this area during the period when
transportation by means of horsedrawn
carts was in full swing.
See the rich and beautiful interior features of
the church and make sure to take a look at
the tombstone of the Nicoletti family built
into the outer church wall. You will learn
more about the family on the next stop of
the town trail.
