Nanos is the name of the great karst plateau that separates central Slovenia from the coastal region. Its highest point is Suhi Vrh ("Dry Peak"), at 1,313 metres. The view from Nanos extends towards the Slovenian Alps in one direction and towards the Snežnik plateau and the coast in the other.

As a hiking destination, the plateau is also accessible to families with young children. The most popular of the several routes leading to the summit is the one that starts in Razdrto

Nanos is also popular with cyclists. Exploring the plateau by bike is great fun and the slope is suitable for people with different levels of fitness. Everyone can choose the route that is right for them.

An easy walk to the top of Nanos takes two hours and 20 minutes, while the steeper path takes about an hour, depending on how fast you walk.

Vojko's Hut (Vojkova koča) is located just below Pleša (the most prominent summit on the plateau) and offers food and drink and even overnight accommodation.
