Seven kilometres from Postojna and surrounded by meadows and woodland lies the Prestranek Castle Estate, once connected to the stud farm and stables at Lipica.
The estate includes a castle first attested in 1581 that was built by the baronial Edling family of Vipava. The estate covers an area of approximately 300 hectares and has one of the largest riding halls in Slovenia. Activities include trail riding on the estate (on Icelandic horses or full-sized horses), summer riding camps, a riding school, equine-assisted therapy and horse care.
Three organic farms operate on the estate. Accommodation is available in six elegantly furnished apartments of the two-star category. The estate also has a restaurant serving a range of dishes, including house specialities made with organic Aberdeen Angus beef.
