"At the Dame's House" museum collections

The "At the Dame's House" museum collections are to be found in a house not far from the entrance to Predjama Castle. This fully renovated old house, boasting wonderful rustic architecture, contains an extensive hunting collection and a collection of weapons and other items relating to the First World War, with an emphasis on the Isonzo Front. A small shop selling local products and a small wine shop are located on the ground floor.

The hunting collection, put together by Damjan Premrl, is dedicated to nature, particularly the forest and hunting. It presents the work of hunters – the guardians of the forest. In it you can see many forest creatures in the form of valuable hunting trophies, a range of traps and hunting rifles, other hunting equipment and a reconstruction of a hide – a camouflaged shelter used to observe wildlife.

The Isonzo Front collection of Marko Bajc includes objects, photographs and letters from the period of the First World War, which together represent a thematically rich and important part of the historical legacy of that period. Most of the pieces in the collection relate to the Isonzo Front and the area immediately to the rear of it.
